The best Twitter MCP server for Claude (2026)

Full disclosure: I make LinkIntel, so I'm biased. This guide does not have one winner, because the useful question is not which X MCP server is best. It is what you want Claude to do with your X account.

Two things decide it: whether the server can only read or can also write, and what data Claude actually receives. I rank five servers on that, and I say which to pick for which job.

TL;DR

Read your own results: LinkIntel, or Buffer's MCP if you already use Buffer. Schedule from Claude: Typefully, Buffer or OpenTweet. Search X and look up users: X's own MCP. Only connect a server that can write if you want Claude able to publish.

  • Best for Claude writing from your own results, read-only: LinkIntelmine
  • Best for scheduling drafts from Claude: Typefully's MCP
  • Best for a queue and your post analytics on a free plan: Buffer's MCP
  • Best for one server for posting, analytics and search: OpenTweet's MCP
  • Best for searching X and looking up users: X's official MCP

Read access and write access are two different decisions

If you searched "Claude Twitter", you probably want one of two things. Either you want Claude to know how your posts performed, which is read access, or you want it to put posts into a queue or onto your timeline, which is write access.

A read-only connector cannot publish by design, so a mistaken prompt cannot post from your account. A server that can write can, so it deserves more care about what you let Claude do without asking. Most people want both jobs eventually, which is why I suggest one connector per job rather than one server that does everything.

What Claude can connect, and what data it gets

Anthropic says custom connectors using remote MCP are available on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans, and that Free users are limited to one custom connector. Typefully's own article says its MCP needs a Claude Pro or Max plan, so check each server's requirements.

Data is the second filter. Some servers give Claude your own post metrics. Others give it a queue to write into, or X's search. For the basics, read what an MCP server for X post analytics is, then follow give Claude your X post data for the setup.

1. LinkIntelmine

Best for
Claude writing from your own results, read-only
Price
$39 USD a month, no free trial, 7-day refund
Read or write
Read-only

LinkIntel gives Claude your own recent original posts and their metrics (read daily once X is connected), X's open-source ranking weights with commit links, and public posts you chose as references, each with its source link. It also keeps daily snapshots of your posts as a record. Nothing it does can post, reply or DM. In Claude Code the setup is one command, claude mcp add -s user --transport http linkintel https://www.getlinkintel.com/api/mcp, and in Claude.ai or Desktop you add it under Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector.

The catch: it cannot schedule, post or search X, and it is built around one person's own X account. It is also not the only server that shows Claude your own metrics, since Buffer's and OpenTweet's do too. I put it first for the evidence job because it is the only one here built purely to inform a draft; the others are first and foremost for writing or searching.

Try LinkIntel

2. Typefully's MCP

Best for
Scheduling and editing drafts from Claude
Price
MCP is listed on the Free plan card; Creator is $99 a year
Read or write
Write: create, edit and schedule drafts

Typefully's server at mcp.typefully.com/mcp signs in with OAuth, with no API key needed (a bearer API key works for headless clients). Claude can create, edit and schedule drafts across X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky and Mastodon, including threads, view your queue and published posts, upload media and organise with tags.

The catch: the help article does not mention analytics or post metrics, so it is not described as showing Claude how your posts performed. It states a Claude Pro or Max plan as a requirement. For scheduling from Claude it is the one I would try first.

3. Buffer's MCP

Best for
A queue and your post analytics on a free plan
Price
Free plan; Essentials $5 per channel a month billed yearly
Read or write
Both: schedule, edit and pull analytics

Buffer's server at mcp.buffer.com/mcp authorises with an API key as a bearer token, works even on the Free plan, and lets an assistant read your channels, browse your queue and drafts, schedule and edit posts, capture ideas and pull post analytics. Claude is one of its documented integrations.

The catch: metrics refresh once a day, so values can lag by up to a day, reach and impressions appear only when every channel in the filter supports them, and requests count against your plan's API limit (3,000 a month on Free). On Twitter, create_post is text only and takes a thread through metadata.

4. OpenTweet's MCP

Best for
One server for posting, analytics and search
Price
Pro $19.99, Advanced $29, Agency $49 a month; 7-day free trial
Read or write
Both: 43 tools

OpenTweet hosts an MCP server with 43 tools across posting, articles, evergreen queues, media, analytics, discovery, accounts and DM campaigns. The analytics tools include get_top_posts and get_profile_growth, and a discovery tool searches saved and public tweets for inspiration. It uses an API key and needs no X developer account, and there is an open-source npm package and a one-click Claude Desktop Extension.

The catch is breadth: this is the most capable server here, which also makes it the one that can do the most to your account. Its docs do not say which plan includes the analytics tools, and DM campaigns need the Advanced or Agency plan with a human approving each DM.

5. X's official MCP

Best for
Searching X and looking up users
Price
Pay per use: post reads $0.005 each, your own reads $0.001, post create $0.015
Read or write
Mostly read; writes need the xurl bridge

X's hosted MCP at api.x.com/mcp calls X API endpoints: fetch posts, full-archive post search, user search and lookup, a user's posts and mentions, bookmarks, news and trends, and drafting and publishing Articles. It needs your own X developer app, with either an app-only bearer token (read-only) or the open-source xurl mcp bridge for user-context writes.

The catch is setup and cost, since you bring the developer app and pay per call. The docs list no scheduling, no ranking weights or references, and do not state whether per-post impressions are exposed, so I would not use it for performance evidence. It is the one to pick for search.

My pick

  • Claude drafting from your own results: LinkIntel, or Buffer's MCP if Buffer already holds your queue.
  • Scheduling from Claude: Typefully's MCP. Buffer and OpenTweet do it too.
  • Posting, analytics and search through one server: OpenTweet's MCP, if you are comfortable giving Claude write access.
  • Searching X or looking up users: X's official MCP.
  • Unsure how much to let Claude do: Start read-only. You can add a writing server later.

What I'd do today

  1. Decide the job: Claude reading your results, or Claude writing into a queue.
  2. Add one connector. On Claude's Free plan you get one custom connector, so choose the job that matters most.
  3. Test it with a question you can check: what were my five best posts last month, and what did they share?
  4. Read what an MCP server for X post analytics is, then look at X's ranking weights so you know what a good brief should mention.

Questions

Is there an official Twitter MCP server for Claude?
X publishes an X MCP at api.x.com/mcp and a Docs MCP at docs.x.com/mcp. The X MCP needs your own developer app and bills per API call. It is aimed at calling X API endpoints, not at your performance history.
Can Claude post to X through an MCP server?
Through some of them: Typefully's, Buffer's and OpenTweet's can create or schedule posts, and X's MCP can write through the xurl bridge. LinkIntel cannot. It is read-only by design.
Which servers give Claude my own X post metrics?
LinkIntel, Buffer's and OpenTweet's. Typefully's MCP article does not mention analytics, and X's MCP page does not say whether per-post metrics are exposed.
Do I need a paid Claude plan?
Anthropic lists custom remote MCP connectors on the Free plan with a limit of one. Typefully's own article says its MCP needs Claude Pro or Max, so check the server you want.
Does LinkIntel work with ChatGPT?
It works in Claude, ChatGPT and any MCP client. OpenAI's help article lists full custom MCP support for Business and Enterprise or Edu plans and read and fetch access for Pro, so check OpenAI's current article for your plan.

LinkIntel is $39 USD a month, with no free trial and a full refund within 7 days of your first payment. It reads your X results and never publishes.
