The best Twitter analytics tool for founders (2026)

Full disclosure: I make LinkIntel, so I'm biased. Here is the thesis anyway. A founder does not need more analytics. They need their numbers to change what they post next, and they need that to happen without a weekly hour in a dashboard.

I ranked six options on that one test. LinkIntel is first only if you already draft posts with an AI assistant. If you do not, X's own free analytics is the better answer, and I say so below.

TL;DR

Pick by how you work. If you draft in Claude or ChatGPT, LinkIntel hands the assistant your own results and X's ranking weights before it writes. If you would rather read numbers yourself, start with X's free analytics and only pay for a dashboard you will really open.

  • Best for founders who draft with an AI assistant: LinkIntelmine
  • Best for free numbers with nothing new to learn: X's own analytics
  • Best for analytics plus a cheap scheduler: Buffer
  • Best for a dashboard inside a growth tool: Tweet Hunter
  • Best for the deepest look at your followers and audience: Fedica

Why a dashboard is the wrong default for a founder

Most analytics tools stop at the chart. You open them, see impressions go up or down, and close the tab with no change to what you write tomorrow. For a founder with a product to ship, that loop breaks first, usually in week three.

So I judged each tool by where its numbers end up. A dashboard you read yourself is fine if you will read it. The better outcome is that the data reaches the place you actually write. If you want the metrics explained, my Twitter analytics guide covers them; this page is only about which tool to pick.

What matters for a startup team of one or two

Three tests. Does it show your own results with no manual work after you connect X? Does that data reach your drafting step, whether that is a person or an assistant? And is the price sensible next to the time it saves? An X analytics tool for startups is only worth a monthly fee if it passes the second test.

If your drafting happens in an AI assistant, the second test is about MCP, the protocol that lets an assistant read outside data. I explain it in what an MCP server for X post analytics is and show the setup in give Claude your X post data.

1. LinkIntelmine

Best for
Founders who draft in Claude or ChatGPT
Price
$39 USD a month, no free trial, 7-day refund
Feeds your next draft
Yes, through your assistant

LinkIntel is an MCP server. Connect X once and it reads your recent original posts and their metrics every day. Your assistant gets them before it drafts, along with X's open-source ranking weights (read daily, with commit links) and any public posts you chose as references. You never open a dashboard: you ask for a draft and it cites what worked for you.

The catch: it only helps if you write with an assistant that supports MCP. It is read-only, so it cannot post or schedule, it is built around one person's own X account, and it does not predict reach. It is also not the only MCP that shows an assistant your own metrics, since Buffer's and OpenTweet's do too. What LinkIntel adds is the ranking weights, references you choose and daily snapshots kept as a record.

2. X's own analytics

Best for
Founders who want free numbers now
Price
Free
Feeds your next draft
No, a dashboard you read

X's post activity dashboard is a free feature, reached through analytics.x.com or an ads account. It shows impressions, engagements and engagement rate per post, plus retention and completion rates for video, and defaults to the last 28 days. You can export post-level data as CSV, up to 30 days at a time and 3,000 posts per export.

The catch is the one this whole guide is about: it is something you read, not something an assistant reads for you, and it has no ranking weights or references. If you do not draft with an assistant, this is the right place to start and you may never need to leave it.

3. Buffer

Best for
Analytics plus a cheap scheduler
Price
Free plan; Essentials $5 per channel a month billed yearly ($6 monthly)
Feeds your next draft
Through its MCP, within API limits

Buffer's free plan includes Insights with 30-day history; paid plans lift that and add advanced analytics. Its X analytics list impressions, engagements, engagement rate, likes, reposts, replies, follower counts, best day and type to post, top hashtags and exportable reports.

Its MCP server can pull post analytics into an assistant, even on Free, though metrics refresh once a day and requests count against your plan's API limit (3,000 a month on Free). Buffer says reach and impressions appear only when every channel in the filter supports them. If you also want a queue, Buffer is better value than LinkIntel; where they overlap is giving an assistant your results.

4. Tweet Hunter

Best for
A dashboard inside an X growth tool
Price
Discover $29, Grow $49, Enterprise $200 a month; 7-day free trial
Feeds your next draft
Dashboard only; no MCP listed

Its pricing page lists "Complete X Analytics" on every plan. The analytics page covers followers, impressions and profile visits, and the homepage lists top tweets by followers, engagement and reach, daily follower growth, and detailed tweet analytics with clicks.

The catch: it is X-only and priced as a growth tool, so you are also paying for scheduling, automation and a viral tweet library. Its pricing, homepage and analytics pages mention no MCP, so the numbers stay in its dashboard rather than reaching an assistant.

5. Fedica

Best for
The deepest look at your audience
Price
Free plan; advanced X metrics from Grow, $19 a month annual ($29 monthly)
Feeds your next draft
Dashboard; no MCP found

Fedica goes much further than LinkIntel on X analysis. It lists follower growth and decline, unfollower tracking, bot detection, a city-level follower map with demographics, best times from your audience's activity and top interactors. Advanced engagement metrics such as impressions and link clicks start on Grow, not on the cheaper Publish plan. It says it uses the official X Enterprise API.

The catch for a founder is volume: this is a lot to read, and I found no MCP server, so none of it reaches an assistant. Choose it if you want to study your audience yourself.

6. Typefully

Best for
Founders who already write in its editor
Price
X analytics from Creator, $99 a year (annual billing only)
Feeds your next draft
Dashboard on the Creator plan

Typefully's plan cards put X analytics on Creator and up, not Free. Its analytics group lists Detailed Metrics, Profile Conversion Rate, Tweeting Streaks and CSV download.

The catch: its MCP help article does not mention analytics or post metrics, so an assistant connected only to Typefully is not described as seeing how your posts performed. I would choose it for the editor and queue, and treat the analytics as a bonus.

My pick

  • You draft in Claude or ChatGPT: LinkIntel. The data lands where you write, with no dashboard.
  • You read numbers yourself and want it free: X's own analytics. Pay for nothing until it stops being enough.
  • You also need a queue: Buffer. Its free plan covers analytics and scheduling, and its MCP can feed an assistant.
  • You care about followers and audience: Fedica, and be ready to spend time reading it.
  • You do not use an assistant: Skip LinkIntel. It is not the right tool for you.

What I'd do today

  1. Open analytics.x.com and export the last 30 days as CSV. Note your five best posts.
  2. If you draft with an assistant, connect LinkIntel and ask for a draft that cites your own best posts.
  3. Block ten minutes a week for one question: what did my best posts have in common?
  4. Check X's published ranking weights once, so you know what the platform rewards.

Questions

Do founders need a paid Twitter analytics tool?
Not to start. X's own analytics is free and shows impressions, engagements and engagement rate per post. Pay only when a tool changes what you post, for example by feeding your results into an assistant or because you will actually read a deeper dashboard.
What is the best X analytics tool for startups on a budget?
X's own analytics is free. Buffer's free plan adds Insights with 30-day history and an MCP server that can pull post analytics into an assistant, within its API limits.
Can an AI assistant read my X analytics?
Yes, through an MCP server that exposes your own post metrics. LinkIntel, Buffer and OpenTweet each have one. X's own dashboard is something you read yourself; you can export a CSV and hand it to your assistant.
Does LinkIntel predict which posts will do well?
No. It gives your assistant your own past results, X's ranking weights and references you chose, so a draft starts from evidence. Past results do not predict reach.
Is LinkIntel worth $39 a month for a founder?
Only if you draft with an assistant most weeks. There is no free trial, but there is a full refund within 7 days of your first payment. If you do not use an assistant, X's free analytics is the better choice.

LinkIntel is $39 USD a month, with no free trial and a full refund within 7 days of your first payment. It reads your X results and never publishes.
