An OpenTweet alternative, if you want your assistant to read and never post

LinkIntel is an MCP server that gives Claude, ChatGPT or another assistant your own X results, X's ranking weights and the reference posts you choose. OpenTweet's MCP server reads your results too, and it also posts, schedules and searches. If you want the posting and searching, stay with OpenTweet. If you want an assistant connection that cannot post, and the ranking weights, LinkIntel is the alternative.

In short: Consider LinkIntel if you want your assistant to read your own X results, X's ranking weights and references you chose through a connection that cannot post, schedule or DM. Stay with OpenTweet if you want the assistant to post and schedule, search tweets for inspiration, publish to Bluesky or LinkedIn, or manage up to 10 X accounts. Both are MCP servers, so you can connect both.

Why people look for an OpenTweet alternative

Full disclosure: I make LinkIntel, so I'm biased. OpenTweet is a capable tool and I have tried to say where it is better. Its pricing page lists Pro at $19.99 a month, Advanced at $29 and Agency at $49, with a 7-day free trial that needs a card, and a 7-day money-back guarantee on its homepage. Its MCP server needs a subscription to get an API key.

The reason to look elsewhere is usually not price. OpenTweet's MCP server has 43 tools, and most of them act: create, schedule, publish and batch-schedule posts, threads, articles, media and DM campaigns. Some people want the assistant that reads their results to have no way of posting at all. LinkIntel is read-only by design: nothing posts, replies or DMs from your account.

The other reason is what the assistant reads. OpenTweet's MCP docs list tools for your top posts, profile growth and best times, and a tool to search saved and public tweets for inspiration. They do not list X's ranking weights. LinkIntel reads X's open-source weights daily, with a commit link for each value, and stores the public posts you choose as references with their source links.

What to look for in an alternative

Start with whether the assistant should be able to act. If you want it to schedule and publish, an MCP server that can do that is a feature, and OpenTweet, Typefully and Buffer all have one. If you want a clear line between evidence and action, a read-only server keeps it.

Then check what the assistant can see about your own account. OpenTweet and Buffer can both pull your own post analytics into an assistant, so on that point LinkIntel is not unique. Its sourced differences are the ranking weights, references you choose with source links, and a daily snapshot record of your own posts.

Finally count networks and accounts. OpenTweet lists X, Bluesky and LinkedIn, and up to 10 X accounts on Agency. LinkIntel is built around one person's own X account.

Trying LinkIntel alongside OpenTweet

Both are MCP servers, so you can connect both to the same assistant: LinkIntel for the evidence, OpenTweet for posting and searching. Connect X to LinkIntel and it reads your recent original posts and their metrics once a day from then on.

LinkIntel costs $39 USD a month with no free trial, and there is a full refund within 7 days of your first payment. That is more than OpenTweet's Pro plan, so if you only need a scheduler with an MCP, OpenTweet is the cheaper way to get one.

Stay with OpenTweet if

  • You want your assistant to post, schedule or batch-schedule: OpenTweet's MCP can, and LinkIntel's cannot.

  • You post to Bluesky or LinkedIn as well as X.
  • You manage several X accounts: Advanced covers up to 3 and Agency up to 10.
  • Price decides it: OpenTweet's Pro is $19.99 a month against LinkIntel's $39.

Questions

Common questions

Is LinkIntel an OpenTweet alternative?
For one part of it. If you want an MCP server that gives your assistant your own X results, it is an alternative that adds X's ranking weights and your chosen references and cannot post. If you want posting, scheduling or searching, it is not, and OpenTweet is the better tool.
Does OpenTweet's MCP server also read my own X results?
Yes. Its docs list analytics tools including get_top_posts, get_profile_growth and get_best_times. LinkIntel is not the only MCP server that gives an assistant your own X results. The docs do not list X's ranking weights.
Can I use LinkIntel and OpenTweet together?
Yes. Both are MCP servers, so you can connect both to one assistant. LinkIntel is read-only, so it never conflicts with what OpenTweet posts or schedules, and it does not import anything from OpenTweet.
How much do OpenTweet and LinkIntel cost?
On its pricing page on 2026-10-15, OpenTweet listed Pro at $19.99 a month, Advanced at $29 and Agency at $49, with a 7-day free trial that needs a card and annual billing available.
