LinkIntel vs OpenTweet

This is the closest comparison of the five: both are MCP servers, and both can show your assistant your own X results. OpenTweet is a posting and scheduling tool whose MCP can also post and search. LinkIntel is read-only and adds X's ranking weights and the references you choose.

In short: Both OpenTweet's MCP and LinkIntel's give an assistant your own X results. OpenTweet's can also create, schedule and publish posts, search tweets, and work across X, Bluesky and LinkedIn, and it costs less. LinkIntel cannot post, and adds X's open-source ranking weights read daily, references you chose with source links, daily snapshots of your posts, and read-only access.

Where the two overlap

Full disclosure: I make LinkIntel, so I'm biased. I will start with the overlap. OpenTweet's MCP docs list analytics tools: get_analytics, get_top_posts (your best-performing published posts by engagement), get_profile_growth, get_best_times, analyze_best_times and get_content_gaps. An assistant connected to it can see how your own posts did. LinkIntel is not the only MCP server that does this, and Buffer's can too.

Both work in Claude and ChatGPT. OpenTweet's MCP page lists Claude Desktop, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, GitHub Copilot, Gemini and Perplexity clients. LinkIntel works in Claude, ChatGPT and any MCP client.

Where OpenTweet is better

OpenTweet's MCP server has 43 tools across posting, articles, evergreen queues, media, analytics, discovery, accounts and DM campaigns. The assistant can create, schedule and publish posts, batch-schedule up to 50, write threads and generate images. LinkIntel can do none of that.

It can also search: opentweet_search_inspiration searches saved and public tweets for inspiration on a topic. LinkIntel never searches X on its own. You hand it the posts you want as references.

OpenTweet lists X, Bluesky and LinkedIn, and up to 3 X accounts on Advanced and 10 on Agency. LinkIntel is built around one person's own X account. OpenTweet's Pro plan is $19.99 a month against LinkIntel's $39, and it already includes the MCP.

What LinkIntel adds

LinkIntel reads X's open-source ranking weights every day and gives each value a commit link, so a draft can cite what the ranker rewards. The weights describe what X's ranker rewards, not how many views a post will get. OpenTweet's docs do not list them. The weights are also free to read at /x-algorithm.

You choose the public X posts that matter, and LinkIntel stores them with their source links and cites them in drafts. It also keeps a daily snapshot record of your own posts. And it is read-only by design, so an assistant connected to it cannot publish, reply or DM, even by mistake.

Which to connect

If you want the assistant to act, connect OpenTweet. If you want it to read evidence only, connect LinkIntel. If you want both, connect both: LinkIntel for the evidence, OpenTweet for posting and search. LinkIntel is $39 USD a month with no free trial and a full refund within 7 days of your first payment. OpenTweet has a 7-day free trial that needs a card, and a 7-day money-back guarantee.

Choose LinkIntel if

  • You want X's open-source ranking weights, read daily with commit links, in front of the assistant.
  • You want to pick the reference posts your assistant draws on, stored with source links.
  • You want a daily record of your own posts kept as snapshots.
  • You want an MCP server that is read-only by design, so nothing can post, reply or DM from your account.
  • You already have a scheduler and only want evidence added to it.

Choose OpenTweet if

  • You want your assistant to create, schedule and publish posts. OpenTweet's MCP can; LinkIntel's cannot.
  • You want to search saved and public tweets for inspiration from the assistant. LinkIntel never searches X on its own.
  • You post to Bluesky or LinkedIn as well as X.
  • You manage more than one X account: Advanced covers up to 3 and Agency up to 10.
  • You want a scheduler and an MCP server in one subscription, at $19.99 a month on Pro.
  • You want its other tools: an evergreen queue, X Articles, best-time and content-gap analysis, image and video generation, or DM campaigns.

Questions

Common questions

OpenTweet vs LinkIntel: which should I choose?
Choose by whether the assistant should act. OpenTweet's MCP can post, schedule and search as well as read your results, and it costs less. LinkIntel is read-only and adds X's ranking weights, references you chose and daily snapshots of your posts. You can connect both.
Do both MCP servers give my assistant my own X results?
Yes. OpenTweet's docs list tools such as get_top_posts and get_profile_growth, and LinkIntel reads your recent original posts and metrics daily. Neither is the only one: Buffer's MCP can pull post analytics as well. Which plans of OpenTweet include its analytics tools is not stated in its docs.
Can I use LinkIntel and OpenTweet together?
Yes. Connect both to one assistant: LinkIntel supplies the evidence, OpenTweet posts and searches. LinkIntel is read-only, so it never changes what OpenTweet schedules.
Does OpenTweet use X's ranking weights?
Its docs do not list them. LinkIntel reads X's open-source ranking weights daily with commit links. They describe what X's ranker rewards, not how many views a post will get.
