The best AI tweet generator for small business (2026)

Full disclosure: I make LinkIntel, so I'm biased. Here is the honest version of this guide. A small business does not need a clever tool. It needs posts that sound like the business, written cheaply and quickly, and for that the deciding factor is cost.

On that test, a free assistant or a scheduler's built-in AI will beat LinkIntel for most small businesses, especially ones with little posting history. LinkIntel is the upgrade for later, once you have results to learn from. It is fifth below, and that is where I think it belongs.

TL;DR

Start free. A general assistant with a good prompt, or the AI inside a free scheduler, covers a small business's first months. Pay for something only once you know you post every week and have results worth learning from.

  • Best for most small businesses starting out: a free Claude or ChatGPT plan
  • Best for AI help inside a free scheduler: Buffer
  • Best for a quick one-off generator: Hootsuite's free AI tweet generator
  • Best for AI writing plus a queue for about $99 a year: Typefully
  • Best for learning from months of your own results: LinkIntelmine

Sounding like the business without hiring a writer

Every generator writes in a generic voice unless you teach it yours. The trick is the same in all of them: tell it what you sell, who buys it, and paste in five posts you wrote or admire. A free assistant can do that as well as a paid tool can, because voice comes from your examples, not the product.

What a generator cannot do is know your customers or your results. That gap is where paid tools start to matter, and it only matters once you have posted enough for there to be results.

What each option really costs

A free Claude or ChatGPT plan is $0 and Buffer's free plan is $0. Typefully's AI writing starts on its $99-a-year Creator plan. Tweet Hunter's AI Writer starts on Grow at $49 a month. Hootsuite lists plans from $99 per user per month billed annually, which is a lot for tweets alone. LinkIntel is $39 a month.

For a business tweeting a few times a week, the first two cost nothing and do the job. The rest are worth it only if they save you time you value at more than their price.

1. A free assistant: Claude or ChatGPT

Best for
Businesses just starting out
Price
Free; Claude Pro is $17 a month on annual billing ($20 monthly)
Free to start
Yes, both have free plans

Claude has a free plan, and so does ChatGPT. Either will draft tweets in your voice if you give it the business, the customer and a handful of example posts. There is no new account to manage and no extra subscription.

The catch: a general assistant knows nothing about your results or what X rewards, so each draft is an educated guess, and you post by hand. It is still the best starting point because it costs nothing and you can change your mind tomorrow.

2. Buffer

Best for
AI help plus a free queue
Price
Free plan; Essentials $5 per channel a month billed yearly ($6 monthly)
Free to start
Yes, AI Assistant on the Free plan

Buffer's AI Assistant has unlimited credits on every plan, including Free. It can generate, rewrite, shorten, expand, change tone and repurpose a post per network. The free plan covers up to 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts per channel and 100 ideas, so a small business can write and schedule in one place for nothing.

The catch: it writes from your prompt, not from your results. Paid plans lift the scheduled-post limit, from $5 a channel a month on annual billing.

3. Hootsuite's free AI tweet generator

Best for
A quick one-off draft
Price
Free tool; Hootsuite plans start at $99 per user a month billed annually
Free to start
Yes, a free tool

Hootsuite offers a free AI tweet generator. You give it a language, a style, a description of up to 200 characters and some keywords, and it returns tweets. The page says it is powered by ChatGPT 3.5.

The catch: it is a short form with a 200-character brief, so you will do the voice-matching yourself, and the Hootsuite plans behind it start at $99 per user a month billed annually, which is more than a small business needs for tweets. Use the free tool, and ignore the plans unless you manage many networks.

4. Typefully

Best for
AI writing and a queue for about $99 a year
Price
Free plan without AI writing; Creator $99 a year (annual billing only)
Free to start
No, AI writing starts on Creator

Typefully's Creator plan adds AI writing features to the Free plan: a writing assistant and rewrite-and-improve, with included usage. It is an editor and scheduler first, and its Free plan allows 10 posts a month.

The catch: the AI is the paid part, and its limits are stated as "included usage" without a number. For a business that wants a calm place to write and schedule, $99 a year is reasonable.

5. LinkIntelmine

Best for
Businesses with months of posts to learn from
Price
$39 USD a month, no free trial, 7-day refund
Free to start
No, $39 a month

LinkIntel is not a generator and not a scheduler. It is an MCP server that hands the assistant you already use your own recent X posts and their metrics, X's ranking weights and references you chose, so a draft starts from what worked for you. It can sit behind a free assistant: Claude's free plan allows one custom connector. Read how to give Claude your X post data.

The catch is timing. With only a few posts there is nothing for it to learn from, and $39 a month is hard to justify. It is read-only, so you still post elsewhere. Come back to it when you have a few months of posts and a sense of which ones landed.

6. Tweet Hunter

Best for
Businesses that want a growth tool with AI
Price
Grow $49 a month ($36 on yearly) for the AI Writer; 7-day free trial
Free to start
No, AI Writer starts on Grow

Its AI Writer, from the Grow plan, produces daily AI-written tweets, rewrites, finishes a tweet you started and suggests thread ideas and hooks. The pricing page also lists a library of over 12M viral tweets and scheduling on every plan. It is X-only.

The catch is price: $49 a month before you have proved you will post weekly. It is more tool than most small businesses need.

My pick

  • You post a few times a week and have no budget: A free Claude or ChatGPT plan, with examples of your voice pasted in.
  • You also want a free queue: Buffer. Its AI Assistant and scheduler are both free to start.
  • You want a calm editor and AI for about $99 a year: Typefully Creator.
  • You have months of posts and want drafts that learn from them: Add LinkIntel to the assistant you already use.

What I'd do today

  1. Write down what you sell, who buys it and five posts that sound like you.
  2. Paste that into a free Claude or ChatGPT chat and ask for ten tweets. Keep the three you would really post.
  3. Schedule them in Buffer's free plan if you want a queue.
  4. In three months, look at which posts did best. If you want an assistant to learn from them, try LinkIntel.

Questions

Is there a free AI tweet generator that works for a business?
Yes. A free Claude or ChatGPT plan works well if you give it your business and example posts. Buffer's AI Assistant is on every plan including Free, and Hootsuite offers a free AI tweet generator on its site.
Will AI tweets sound like my business?
Only if you teach it your voice. Paste in five posts you wrote or admire and describe your customer. Without that, every generator writes in the same generic voice.
Should a small business pay for a tweet generator?
Usually not at first. Free options cover a few posts a week. Pay when you have a clear reason, such as a queue you need, an editor you prefer, or results you want an assistant to learn from.
Where does LinkIntel fit for a small business?
As a later upgrade. It does not write posts or schedule them. It gives your assistant your own results, X's ranking weights and references you chose. With little posting history there is little to learn from.
Can I use LinkIntel with ChatGPT?
OpenAI's article on custom MCP servers lists full support for Business and Enterprise or Edu plans and read and fetch access for Pro. It does not list Free or Plus, so check OpenAI's current article. Claude's free plan allows one custom connector.

LinkIntel is $39 USD a month, with no free trial and a full refund within 7 days of your first payment. It reads your X results and never publishes.
